Verrado Middle School

Verrado Middle School is at 20880 W. Main St., right in downtown Verrado, and it's run by Litchfield Elementary School District #79 (LESD), the same district as the community's elementary schools. The school site lists the front office at 623-547-1300. Students are the Mustangs, and the homepage leans into it with a student commitment about leading and sticking together as a herd. It also says staff aim to be advocates for students through communication and teamwork.

Which grades, and which kids?

Check the grade span first. Verrado's grade setups have changed over the years. A 2013 Verrado school guide described VMS as grades 6–8, and the school site or office has the current span. That matters most if you have a fifth or sixth grader.

Heritage families may not come here at all. Verrado Heritage Elementary has served grades through 8th in recent federal data, so some Heritage students stay put. Ask the district what applies to your address.

Enrolling

You register through the district, using LESD's student registration page and its document list. If your kid is moving up from another LESD school, your current school and the district can tell you whether you need to do anything.

Zoned somewhere else but want VMS? That's an open enrollment request. Approvals depend on space and last one school year, and the district's form sets a March 15 deadline for returning students.

Getting ahead of the middle-school shuffle

This is when schedules get complicated: electives, clubs, sports seasons, and more homework platforms than you knew existed. VMS posts its calendar, athletics and parent resources on the school site. Bookmark it, and turn on whatever notification tool the school uses so you're not digging through backpacks for flyers.

Bell times, arrival and dismissal routines, and after-school options change from year to year, so go by what's posted and call the office if anything's unclear.

The campus is on Main Street, a short walk from downtown shops and restaurants. If your kid will be walking over to Main Street after school, go over the school's dismissal rules together first.

Looking up performance

After 8th grade

Students move to the Agua Fria Union High School District. Verrado High School is the AFUHSD campus inside the community; confirm your zoned school with the district's locator.
