Verrado High School

Public high school in Verrado, operated by the Agua Fria Union High School District.

Verrado High School sits inside the community at 20050 W. Indian School Rd., and it's run by the Agua Fria Union High School District (AFUHSD). That's a different district from the one that runs Verrado's K–8 schools, so you'll be dealing with a new set of offices and websites when your kid moves up.

The school's About page says it opened in fall 2006 with a freshman class and describes VHS as a project-based learning school. Teams are the Vipers. The district's school list gives the main number as 623-932-7400.

Is your address zoned here?

Students are assigned by attendance boundary, and those lines moved recently. AFUHSD redrew its high school boundaries when Goodyear High School opened in August 2025; the district's boundary page says the Governing Board voted on the changes on December 3, 2024. If you looked up your assignment before 2025, look again.

To check, use the district's School Locator on the boundary page and type in your address. If you want a different AFUHSD campus, the district runs a yearly open enrollment (variance) process. Watch that page for the next application window.

Academies and programs

The school's Academies & Pathways page groups electives into three academies:

  • Creative Arts & Media: film and TV, live entertainment production, band, choir, dance, theatre and visual arts
  • Business, Design & Technology: digital media and journalism, photography, graphic design, marketing, and software and app design
  • Science, Service & Innovation: automation and robotics, sports medicine, fire and rescue, and a mental and social health technician pathway

The counseling pages on the school site also list Advanced Placement, dual enrollment and West-MEC career programs. Offerings change from year to year, and the district's course description book has the current list.

Signing up a new student

You register online through the district. AFUHSD's registration page walks you through setting up a ParentVUE account and uploading documents. Gather these before you sit down: proof of residency, a birth certificate, immunization records, a parent or guardian photo ID, and prior school records if you have them. The same page lists enrollment help lines for each campus.

Game nights, forms and buses

VHS sells athletics tickets through GoFan, and prices vary by event. Athletes do their sports paperwork in FinalForms, which the district uses for registration. The bell schedule and the VHS calendar are on the school site. Bus routes and the BusRight parent app are on the district's transportation page.

Looking up performance

We don't reprint letter grades or rankings here. The state publishes accountability data for every public school on AZ School Report Cards; search for Verrado High School by name. Our report card walkthrough explains what to look at and what to ask.

On the ballot, and other things to know

AFUHSD is asking voters to continue its existing budget override as Prop 438 in the November 3, 2026 election. The district's override page has its explanation, and the Arizona Secretary of State's publicity pamphlet carries arguments for and against. Our voter page has the deadlines.

If you want to back school activities, the district has a tax credit donation page. And if you've got younger kids too, Verrado's elementary and middle schools are run by Litchfield Elementary School District #79.

Next, bookmark the Verrado High School site, the AFUHSD boundaries and School Locator and AFUHSD registration. Our Schools serving Verrado and Kids and sports guides pick up from there.
