Litchfield Elementary School District #79

Enter your exact address on the district's boundary map before you count on a school. Litchfield Elementary School District #79 (LESD) is the public K–8 district that runs Verrado's three neighborhood schools:

• Verrado Elementary School, 20873 W. Sunrise Lane
• Verrado Heritage Elementary School, 20895 W. Hamilton St.
• Verrado Middle School, 20880 W. Main St.

The district office is at 272 E. Sagebrush St. in Litchfield Park, and the district homepage lists the main number as 623-535-6000. Verrado is one corner of a big district: the homepage puts its footprint at 78 square miles of Maricopa County.

High school is a separate district. Verrado teens go through the Agua Fria Union High School District.

Which school is yours?

Start with the district's Find your School boundary map and type in your address. A listing site or the neighbor two doors down isn't a reliable answer.

There's a local quirk here: school-district lines and neighborhood lines don't always match in Verrado. A 2007 Verrado school guide (dated 09/07, posted to verrado.com in 2013) explained that some parcels north of McDowell Road sat inside a different district's boundary, with a cross-district agreement covering K–8 attendance at the time. That document is old and arrangements change, so take it as a reason to double-check, not as current policy.

Correction (Oct. 11, 2026): this page called it a 2013 guide. The PDF was created in September 2007; 2013 is only the folder it was uploaded to.

Grade spans shift too. Verrado's schools have changed their grade setups over the years, so check each school's site for this year's before you assume where a fifth or sixth grader goes.

Registering, kindergarten and open enrollment

The district's student registration page covers the enrollment steps and links to the required registration documents. Register as soon as the district opens enrollment, not the week before school starts.

For kindergarten, see the kindergarten information page. The district's open enrollment form notes that a child must be five before September 1 to start kindergarten and six before September 1 for first grade.

To request an LESD school outside your boundary, start at the open enrollment information page. According to the district's application form, approvals last one school year and depend on space at each school and grade. Returning students' applications are due by March 15 for the next year.
