Verrado Elementary School

Verrado Elementary School is a public neighborhood school at 20873 W. Sunrise Lane, close to downtown Verrado. It's run by Litchfield Elementary School District #79 (LESD), and the school site lists the front office at 623-547-1600.

It's one of the community's original schools; a 2013 Verrado school guide says it opened in 2006. Students go by SuperSTARS on the school's homepage, where VES describes its aim as a rigorous classroom where kids feel safe, kind and connected.

Is your street zoned here?

Don't assume it is. VES serves younger grades for the part of Verrado inside its attendance zone, and Verrado has more than one elementary campus. Verrado Heritage Elementary serves the Heritage District area, so it comes down to your exact address. LESD's Find your School map will tell you before you register or buy.

Grade spans move too. The 2013 guide described VES as a K–5 school, and the setup has changed since then. If you have an upper-elementary kid, check the school site or call the office for this year's grade span.

Enrolling

You register through the district. LESD's student registration page covers the steps and the documents you'll need.

For kindergarten, the district's kindergarten page has the timeline, and LESD's open enrollment form notes the age cutoff: five years old before September 1.

Zoned elsewhere but want VES? That's an open enrollment request, approved one year at a time depending on space.

The first week

Bell times, drop-off and pickup routines, and before- or after-school care change from year to year. The school posts them, and the front office can walk you through them. If you're new, a short visit before the first day makes that first morning go a lot smoother.

The campus is close to Main Street. If you plan to walk or bike your kid in, read the school's arrival and dismissal guidance first so you know where to go.

Looking up performance
