Buckeye Utilities: Trash, Water & More
Links to official sourceStart or stop City of Buckeye trash and recycling service for a Verrado address, plus the water, electric, gas and internet providers listed on the Verrado Services utilities page.
Call EPCOR before the movers come, and ask them to set up sewer on the same call. Then get your city trash account going. Here's who does what.
In Verrado, trash and recycling come from the City of Buckeye, not the community association. Water is a different story: the Verrado Services utilities page lists EPCOR, not the city, as Verrado's water provider. The city's residential account is what gets you weekly trash and recycling pickup, so if you're buying, renting or moving out, it's one of the first calls (or clicks) to make.
The same utilities page lists the rest: EPCOR for water (EPCOR's start water service page says to call 1-800-383-0834), APS for electric (start service), Southwest Gas for natural gas (877-860-6020, per the utilities page; contact and start service), and Cox and CenturyLink for internet (Cox, CenturyLink). Sewer: EPCOR again. It runs Verrado's own water reclamation plant, so when you call to start water, ask them to set up sewer too. EPCOR's water and wastewater rates page lists Buckeye's wastewater rates.
Starting or stopping your city account
Begin with the city's start/stop service page.
Apply ahead. The city asks for forms at least three business days before you want service turned on or off. If you need it sooner, it points you to the Utility Billing counters at The Landing (945 N. 215th Ave.) or City Hall (530 E. Monroe Ave.).
Expect a deposit. New residential accounts pay a refundable deposit unless they qualify for a waiver, and the city also lists one-time account fees that show up on the first bill. Current amounts are on the city page; we don't repeat them here because they change.
You can skip the deposit by turning in a letter of credit from your previous utility. The city's waiver rules spell out what the letter needs to show, including 12 months with no late payments or shutoffs, and it has to be submitted with your application. Ask your old utility for that letter before you move.
If you do pay the deposit, the page says accounts with 12 consecutive months of on-time payments get it credited back automatically.
You can manage your account, pay bills and request service through the city's Resident Access portal. Paying through your bank's bill-pay? The city asks you to include the dash between your account number and customer number.
Utility Billing is at 623-349-6100 (weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., per the city).
Trash day
The city's trash service page covers the routine. Curbside pickup is once a week, and your day depends on your service area, which you'll find on the city's collection schedule.
Put city carts out the night before with the lids closed, and leave about three feet between carts. Don't stack bags on the ground next to a full cart; extra carts are available for an added monthly charge. Holidays shift some pickup days, and the schedules page lists which ones.
One Verrado thing: community design standards also regulate where bins are stored between pickups. Read the association's rules so a stray cart doesn't turn into a violation letter.
Bulk trash
Buckeye announced a switch to scheduled bulk pickup in August 2025. Per the city's bulk trash page, active trash accounts get up to four bulk pickups a year. You request one online and it's collected on your regular trash day, as long as you submit early enough. The page explains the lead time, plus size limits, placement rules and what they won't take. Miss your scheduled pickup and it still counts as one of your four, so put the pile out on time.
When something goes wrong
Report a missed pickup or broken cart through the city's online form or by calling 623-349-6100, per the trash service page.
Water questions: since the Verrado Services utilities page lists EPCOR as Verrado's water provider, take water quality, leak and water billing questions to EPCOR (1-800-383-0834, per EPCOR's contact page) rather than the city.
Moving out? Stop your city account with the same three-business-day lead time so you aren't billed for the next owner's trash, and remember to stop EPCOR, APS and Southwest Gas separately.
The links you'll use most: Start/stop service, the Resident Access billing portal, Trash and recycling and Bulk trash. For the providers, there's the Verrado Services utilities page, EPCOR start water service, APS start service and Southwest Gas. Our City of Buckeye overview and New resident checklist cover the rest of your move.
