Agua Fria Union High School District

If your teen's school assignment was looked up before 2025, look it up again: the Agua Fria Union High School District (AFUHSD) redrew its boundaries that year. AFUHSD runs public high schools in the southwest Valley, including Verrado High School. It's a high-school-only district that works alongside the K–8 districts in the area, which for Verrado is Litchfield Elementary School District #79.

The district describes itself as serving west Avondale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Waddell, and the northern and eastern parts of Buckeye. Its campuses are Agua Fria, Canyon View, Desert Edge, Goodyear, Millennium and Verrado high schools, plus The Hilltop School for the Arts and an online program (per the district's override page and school list).

The district office is at 1481 N. Eliseo Felix Jr. Way in Avondale, and its registration page lists the main number as (623) 932-7000. Registration and transcripts go through the district, and so do buses and boundaries. If you're buying a house, the attendance boundary for that specific address decides the zoned high school. And if you vote inside its boundaries, its budget overrides and bonds come to you on the ballot.

The 2025 boundary change

AFUHSD did a boundary study ahead of Goodyear High School's August 2025 opening. The district's boundary page says the goals were setting Goodyear's zone and easing crowding at existing schools, along with better bus routes, and that the Governing Board voted on the final changes on December 3, 2024. The district posts maps for July 2025 onward on that page, with a School Locator that shows your assigned school by address.

Registering online

The registration page splits families into two groups. If you're new to the district, you set up a ParentVUE online registration account. If you already have a current or former AFUHSD student, you log into ParentVUE to add or re-enroll. Have these ready:

• Proof of residency (utility bill, lease, mortgage or official mail)
• Student birth certificate
• Immunization records
• Parent or guardian photo ID
• Prior school records or transcripts, if any

Wanting a different campus

According to the district, every student who lives inside AFUHSD boundaries gets a seat at their neighborhood school. If you want a different campus for a specific program, that's a separate step: you apply for a variance through open enrollment, and the application window is posted on that page.

On the November 2026 ballot

AFUHSD is asking voters to continue its existing maintenance and operations budget override as Proposition 438. On its override page, the district says the measure continues the current override rather than raising the rate, and it explains what it expects to cut if the measure fails. That's the district's own framing. For the official ballot language and arguments on both sides, read the Arizona Secretary of State's publicity pamphlet. Our voter page has the registration and early-voting dates.

Looking up performance

The state's AZ School Report Cards site covers every AFUHSD school. We don't reprint grades or rankings; our walkthrough shows how to read the data yourself.

Buses, board meetings and the calendar

Bus info, including the BusRight parent app, is on the district's transportation page. Board agendas and minutes are under the Governing Board pages. And look at the academic calendar before you book a trip around school breaks.

Start at AFUHSD home, then Boundaries and School Locator, Registration and Open enrollment. Our Schools serving Verrado guide covers the K–8 side.
