Schools Serving Verrado

The public schools and districts serving Verrado: Litchfield Elementary School District #79 and the Agua Fria Union High School District.

Look up your exact address on the district's boundary map before you trust what a listing says about schools. Public schools in Verrado are run by two separate districts, one for elementary and middle grades and one for high school, and grade setups and attendance lines have shifted over the years. Confirm the current details with the districts before you enroll, or before you buy a house because of a school.

One thing that surprises people: verrado.com says Verrado actually sits in three school districts, Litchfield Elementary, Agua Fria High School District and Saddle Mountain Unified (Education page). Under an intergovernmental agreement, every Verrado student can attend the Verrado elementary, middle and high schools even if the house is in a different district (verrado.com FAQ). If you're buying near an edge, ask about this.

Elementary and middle: Litchfield Elementary School District #79

Litchfield Elementary School District #79 (LESD) runs the elementary and middle schools that serve Verrado.

Verrado Elementary School covers preschool and K–5, per verrado.com's Education page, close to downtown. It's one of the original schools here: a 2013 Verrado school guide says it opened in 2006. Our VES page has more.

Verrado Heritage Elementary School serves the Heritage District area. Federal school-directory data for 2023–24 listed it as pre-K through 8th grade, and verrado.com's Education page still lists it as preschool and K–8, so Heritage families can stay on one campus through middle school. Our VHE page has more.

Verrado Middle School handles grades 6–8 (per verrado.com), right on Main Street downtown; see our VMS page. The district site has the current grade span and boundary information.

Each Verrado elementary school runs one K–5 Traditional Academy strand (Core Knowledge reading and Singapore Math), and grades 7–8 have an Honors strand (Education page). If those matter to you, ask about them on your tour.

For enrollment, LESD's enrollment site says the 2026–27 school year is "in full swing," asks families to confirm enrollment, and counts 16 schools with one more opening in fall 2026. Correction (Oct. 11, 2026): this guide previously quoted the site as saying enrollment was "in full swing." The site says the school year is. LESD's website is the place for enrollment windows, school boundaries, calendars, and bus transportation. If you're not sure which campus you're zoned for, its Find your School map will tell you by address.

High school: Agua Fria Union High School District

Verrado High School is inside the community at 20050 W. Indian School Rd, and it's run by the Agua Fria Union High School District, a different district from the K–8 schools. It opened in fall 2006, graduated its first class in 2010, and is set up as "four houses of 400" (verrado.com). The district site covers enrollment, boundaries, athletics, and academic programs.

One thing to know if you looked this up a while ago: the district redrew its high school boundaries when Goodyear High School opened in August 2025, according to its boundary page. Check again with the School Locator there. Our Verrado High School page has the details.

Other options

Arizona has open enrollment, which means families can apply to schools outside their attendance boundary if there's room. For high school, mark your calendar early: Agua Fria's 2026–27 open-enrollment applications had to be in by Jan. 24, 2026 to fall under the board's capacity decision, and Verrado High was one of the schools you could request (AFUHSD application). The 2027–28 window isn't posted yet, so watch the district site this winter.

If you want something smaller, verrado.com's 2025 attractions sheet lists the Goddard School inside Verrado (6 weeks to 6 years, across from Verrado Elementary), plus West-MEC's Southwest Campus, Odyssey Prep and Sequoia Pathfinder about a mile away and Great Hearts Roosevelt about 3 miles out. There's also a broad charter and private school landscape in the West Valley. The Arizona Department of Education keeps statewide school information, and the AZ School Report Cards site publishes state accountability data for every public school. For a parent walkthrough of that site (what to search, what to read, and why this page doesn't reprint letter grades), see How to read AZ School Report Cards.

What I'd do before deciding

Confirm the attendance boundary for the specific address with the district itself. Don't rely on a listing site for it.

Watch the enrollment and registration windows and get in early, because popular schools fill.

If a school assignment is part of why you're buying a particular house, get it in writing from the district, not from the seller.

When you're ready for after-school plans, kids and sports covers school athletics and city leagues, and our childcare and pediatric pointers help if you're still looking for licensed care.
